So over the course of this semester I have been reading Peak. It is a good book but I had a hard time forcing myself to read it. It wasn't like Hunger games where I couldn't wait to find the time to continue reading it. I always found time to do it but put it off and just didn't read it. when I did read it it was fantastic and well written to keep you attached to it.
So in the end of the book Peak got to 10 feet before the peak of Everest and didn't finish and let Sun-Jo be the youngest to ever reach the top. He did it because it would change sun-jo's life and bring him tons of money and allow him to take his bros and sisters to school. We also learned that Sun-Jo's dad actually saved Peaks father and that is one of the reasons that Peak felt an obligation to let him up first. It is odd since Peak made it up easily and Sun-Jo had to be helped up, but Sun-Jo needed to make it up and go down the other side or else he would have been arrested and detained by the police. Peak agreed to never try to climb everest again and the book ended with him going to his sisters birthday party.
It is hard to fathom that Peak made it all that way and then decides not to finish, It is very unselfish and just doesn't seem right. It was a great written book and I would recomend all to read it.
