IRA Peak final reflection

So over the course of this semester I have been reading Peak.  It is a good book but I had a hard time forcing myself to read it.  It wasn't like Hunger games where I couldn't wait to find the time to continue reading it.  I always found time to do it but put it off and just didn't read it.  when I did read it it was fantastic and well written to keep you attached to it.
So in the end of the book Peak got to 10 feet before the peak of Everest and didn't finish and let Sun-Jo be the youngest to ever reach the top.  He did it because it would change sun-jo's life and bring him tons of money and allow him to take his bros and sisters to school.  We also learned that Sun-Jo's dad actually saved Peaks father and that is one of the reasons that Peak felt an obligation to let him up first.  It is odd since Peak made it up easily and Sun-Jo had to be helped up, but Sun-Jo needed to make it up and go down the other side or else he would have been arrested and detained by the police.  Peak agreed to never try to climb everest again and the book ended with him going to his sisters birthday party.
It is hard to fathom that Peak made it all that way and then decides not to finish, It is very unselfish and just doesn't seem right.  It was a great written book and I would recomend all to read it.

Saturday

So our group didn't get everything done in class so we decided to meet at the school to try and finish our video and just plain do work.  We meet at 12 after dallas, gibler, and jerrin got back from a choir/band thing.  so we did alot of filming on Sat. I think we did like 5 scenes.  The scenes all went very well but some of them we had a hard time thinking how to portray a certain theme.
After that we gave the footage to Jerrin to put it all together and edit all the parts.  I haven't seen the finished product yet but I'm sure it will be good.  He has said that he has it all done but he still has some exta fire to put in and another comercial to add in.  I can't wait to see it tommorow and I will put another blog to put my reflections on how good it is lol.

Week in Review to this point in our project

So this week we got our project going pretty well.  We started our filming on tuesday and it went slow on that day because we were missing both Dallas and Micheal (not sure how you spell his name but that looks good) so we were very limited on what we could do.  But I was gone on Wed. so they couldn't do much either, but between those days we were able to film both of our comercials and a new comercial that we are going to write into the script sometime.
On thursday it got real, even though we were missing Jerrin we were able to do alot of stuff.  We filmed a couple different clips and it went pretty well and I think turned out great.  We will film all the interview stuff today if we can because we will need the couch.  We will try to get it all done because I won't be able to stay after school because I have golf, and so does micheal.  But it is going good but we are crunched for time.

Reflection Operation Fire Dolphin

This week we did a write up and told what each of our jobs will be during this project.  We are going to do a movie so it should be really cool.  Our aim is to do a half comedy half talk show.  We are going to use clips of different parts in the books to display the different themes in this book.  We got a bit sidetracted by drawing fire dolphin but that was well worth it.
We started working on our script which is really good so far but we still have a bit to do.  I think our thing is going to be really funny.  We have a good group with alot of unique creative Ideas that will keep our video fresh and cool.  With how much fun our group is going to have I can't see us finding this project hard because it will be fun.  As of right now I am only an Actor but I also help Dallas with writing the script and formulating Ideas.

8 postsecrets

I found this one halarious.  When reading it I was expecting it to say heart but then left turn it's funny.  But what I think this one means is that the soilders parents accepted his girlfriend/wife as family and love her enough to give her a momento of his.  She obviously still loves him and will always hold him close to her heart/boobs lol.

I see this as a wedding that she invited many of her friends and family but none of them showed up because she pushed them away and I assume mean.  She was also ignorant about this revalation right up until her wedding.  Very sad post to think that maybe all the friends I think I have actually resent me behind my back.  But I don't think that is true.

I have walked up 18 flights of stairs only once and I will never do that again.  that being said I think she might have got her phobia from all the spy movies where they drop the elavator many floors by cutting the top cable.  But the underlying theme of this is the guy who walked down with her, it helps to show that humans are generally nice and will accompany others if they need help.

I love this one because I can see it being true.  Everyone is reading now adays and they are all reading these books.  I refuse to read the first two but the third one I gave into.  I applaud this persons refusal to read and give in to peer presure.  It's not a bad habit they are trying to force you to do but it still is the peer presure that you never hear about.  And then on the front they show that they read Harry Potter so that is good, cuz Harry Potter is awesome.  I like the front of the card better because it reminds me of the many different times in our class that we have talked about Harry Potter and related every book to that book.

I think this one talks about how preist aren't allowed to do things that parishoners can do like, they aren't allowed to get married or have families.  This could put a huge burden on a man to never be able to get married and I could see that some days he would feel that his collar could be stopping him from having a different life.

living life to the fullest is this kids one dream which I think is a dream we should always want to achieve.  I too want to enjoy life to the fullest but I have never thought of it this way where it will show physically even when you are old.

This plays off of the concept of ignorance is bliss.  I just noticed that the Lie is underlined and this is significant because everything that you once believed in is actually a lie such as the Easter Bunny and Santa.  Ignorance is bliss because you never have to accept that everything you see is flawed in one way or another.

The truth shall set you free!!

I didn't mind the article but come on mrs. A it's prom why this weekend.  Now that I said the let's get down to business.
The article talked about the sacrament of confession, which being a catholic I could relate to it.  Whenever I gon into confession i tell my sins and leave feeling really good about myself.  I just have a great feeling radiates throughout my body that lets me know all my sins were forgiven.  I've never had trouble telling my Father that I have sinned because I know he can't tell anyone even if I told him I've killed 31 children and have 5 more in my basement, he couldn't tell anyone.  But I have trouble telling other people the truth because you can't trust all of them and fear being judged for the truth.  Postsecrets is a pretty neat program.

Ira: peak

So this week in peak he is feeling betrayed by his dad josh because he is possibly only using him to boost his company by saying he lead up the youngest kid ever to climb everest. Peak doesn't know what to think yet but he doesn't like that a film crew is coming. It is even the film crew that busted the story of who is dad is. Do you think his dad sold him out to boost his profits. He will get more people if he can say he lead peak up but it is low to use your son. Josh is still not paying much attention to his son. Do you think he is using him or just trying to reconnect with his son?

IRA Peak

In this installment of Peak they made their way into tibet and we learned that the tibeten people are slaves in their own country being controlled by the Chinesse.  All of their buddist chapels have been destroyed and the ones that are left are lacking supplies.  How would you feel if you were kept down by a neighboring country, lets say Canada? not being able to worship as you like or have freedom?

IRA: Peak

So this week it was Peak's job to go through all of the stuff that his dad bought for him and find replacements with Zopa for anything that didn't work.  If it was too small they tossed it, if it was too big they tossed it.  We also meet a new kid named Sun-Jo he is related to Zopa somehow but IDK.
The thing I want to talk about is how when Zopa got their and went through all of his thing he started tossing out brand new items that could of possibly helped them.  Peak's dad bought this stuff so you think he would know what he is doing and only buy the neccessities but apparently not.  Zopa also seems like a expert at this type of stuff so he must think he is right in throwing out the expensive new items.  Wonder which one is right, I expect a fight to break out for ditching the stuff.

IRA: Peak

Didn't post last weak because I was down in Nasa doing a space settlement design competition, and didn't have any freaking internet.  Continued reading Peak and found Peak in a hotel in Katmandu, yes like the bob segar song.  So at this hotel Peak is getting ready for his climb by adjusting his body to the higher altitude.  His dad tells him that a converted monk will be taking his to the base camp in a while whilst his dad goes and talks to the customers he had to abandon when he heard of his son's arrest.
The chapter ends with the monk walking in and not saying a word but going over to the window and revealing a gorgeous sunset.  This book is well writen expecially that it is told through a kids eyes and it still has the kid being a fluent writer.  Still a good book, recomend to all who hate their books.

Memories

So this blog we are supposed to talk about our memories and a little about the sound and the fury.  for me I tend to be able to remember stuff better when it is words.  I am able to remember anything I read and ace a test over that subject.  In the sound and the fury the memories are probably very accurate.  If it is a big enough event for you to remember you know how to say exactly what happened and how things played out.  Since all these memories are from within their own mind there is no one else to skew their words of what they remembered.

IRA: Peak

So Peak is at the Airport, but his dad hasn't shown up yet.  So it goes into his back story on how his parents meet and stuff.  They were world class climbers that broke many records, till they had peak, his father didn't stay to see peak be born though.  His mother severely injured herself on a climbing trip and hasn't climbed since.  Then while living in Wyoming she meet Rolf her now husband and moved to Newyork, where he started to plan his trips up skyscrappers.
His dad and him barely get on the plane in time since his dad shows up late.  They then get held up in a couple different countries but he can't talk to his dad because his dad is busy talking to people on the phone.  They get to China and Peak has to take a huge physical and he doesn't know exactly why.  then his dad tells him that they are going to make a stop at EVEREST!!! (and climb it)
Peak must be walking on thin air!, I mean that is one of his life goals and he is going to get to do it!!! and set a record since he will do it before he is 15 and be the youngest kid ever to climb EVEREST!!

IRA: Peak

So internet wasn't working too well yesterday, but I didn't want to post on Thursday because I wanted to get a bit farther.  so where I am Peak is packing to leave with his father.  He is kinda excited, but then again he is leaving behind everything he has ever known.  I think this would be extremely hard, to leave everything you've known just to go with a man you hven't talked to in 7 years.  The only thing he is excited about is that he will be in the Mountains, a spot he can climb without getting into trouble.
I like this book way more than the other book I'm reading . . The Sound and The Fury.  SO so sooo much easier to read and get into.  I enjoy this book and am excited to read more of it.

IRA: PEAK

So short post this week, I couldn't find too much time to continue reading this book but this is what I have:
So Peak is in the courtroom now and he is all dressed up getting ready to be eaten alive when who does he see, his dad next to his mom, he hasn't seen her in 7 years.  This gets him a bit happy since his dad was across the world climbing mountains.  Shocker his dad offered to have Peak live with him in Thailand so the sentance would disappear, since the story was blown way out of proportion since the kid died.  The judge finally decides that he will be on probation till 18 and a 150,000 dollar fine, will be refunded when he turns 18 and probation is over.
I love this book so far, it is writen from a kids prospective so you have the hints of comedy in it, and it is writen by a child prodgey at writing so it is still elequently put together.

Grapes of Wrath Comparision

The movie did a great job at putting the book into movie form.  They had almost all of the major parts, but they did switch them up a bit.  It put the Government camp after the part where he got hit in the face, which is contrary to the book.  They also got rid of the entire end about cotton picking and the part about the old man in the barn, probably because that would last too long, and was very controversial.
I think that I prefered the movie because I didn't have to read lol.  The movie did a great job translating it and I got everything that I got out of the book minus that turtle.  It dropped all the intercaleragory chapters except the one about the diner, I think it was good they kept that chapter because it showed hardships, but I would of made the truck drivers more angry.  To sum up  it was a good movie, and a decent book, very boring though.

ANONYMOS Refletion

In this play it gave us a different view on who actually wrote the plays that William Shakespeare is known for writing.  I'm not really sure which one to believe though.  On the one hand I've always been told they were written by William Shakespeare.  On the other hand this movie gave a very good insight into their belief that William didn't write it.
Assuming that it is historically accurate it is very believable based on how it happened.  The Earl can't be known for writing but yet he was the son of Queen Elizabeth who loved plays, so he was born loving plays.  I think that it is plausible for this to be the true story.  However, I think that Shakespeare actually wrote the plays.  I think it is hard to tell for me because I like the backstory of how it happened, but on the story that Shakespeare wrote it I have no background info to know for sure.

IRA: PEAK

I am reading a new book this week.  It's main character is Peak.  Weird name I know.  So he got in trouble with the law so far.  He got arrested for tagging buildings with a blue mountain, he always climbed the building to the top and tagging it.  This is his 6th building before he got arrested.  He is getting into big trouble since a kid tried to copy him and fell and died.  He is in prison and got an assignment from his advanced school to write a story, since he was proclaimed a writing protegy, if he does this he will pass in school.  So this book is his journal that he is keeping in prison, I think.

So far not a bad book.

Well now that they are gone.

I would like to take this blog to talk about Petta.  He plays a pivital role in the book.  He first says he is in love with her during the interviews.  He then teams up with the career tributes, they keep him alive thinking he will give them a advantage into killing katniss.  But he doesn't help them and tries to keep them he just keeps them from finding her.  He then proceeds to let her get a bow by protecting her from a tribute and taking the blow himself.  He lays in the mud for days till they announce that 2 tributes can win if from the same district.  Katniss finds him and nurses him back to health from his leg wound.  In the end they say that only one can win so they decide to commit suicide together but the capital stops them and pronounces them bouth winners.  When they get back to the capital they are forced to act like they are madly in love with each other so the capital doesn't kill them for having 2 winners.  Peeta isn't told to act and he really is madly in love with Katniss.  But she is troubled between him and Gale.  But it is still a better love story than twilight.

IRA: Hunger Games

Katniss doing work.
This time while reading I learned that the people have battle training, before the games to help hone their skills so it makes for better tv watching and to rank them for Gambleing for the high class.  The strategy was for them to try to learn all of their skills that they don't already know.  She was not supposed to go near the archer's range till the individual training so she doesn't give away her strengths.  When she gets into individual training she almost shoots the elders because they don't watch her, but she hits an apple and pins it against the wall.  So she is picked the best and givven an 11 out of 12.  Surprise, after this Peeta who got an 8 doesn't want to train with her.
I think she should of tried to go to arrows and do bad their so people think she is terrible and don't know that she is on purposely avoiding it.
amazing book, 3rd best I've ever read, behind Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson

IRA The Hunger Games

Loving this book so far, lots of action and easy to read.
So at this point they are on the train going toward the capitol city, she gets all of this extrodinary food that she would never be able to eat otherwise.  While eating Haymitch staggers in and he is drunk off his a$$.  When they finally sober him up he makes a deal with them that he will help them through the tournament if they let him drink.  So he tells them to do what ever they are told and never argue.  So they follow his command and when they get to the capital they are instantly forced to go to styalist and get ready for presenting them to the rich nobels (the nobels will help them in the game by buying them weapons and stuff like that.)  So when she is presented to the nobels she is wearing a dress with fire on it, and the crowd loves her, even more than the rich other district (which doesn't normally happen).  She starts out nervous and then evolves into blowing kisses at the people and loving all the attention.  But the other districts hate her because they are never outshined by district 12.
In the train she notices that Peeta, the other district 12 candidate, is trying to be nice to her, she catches on the and realizes that once the games start they are mortal enemies and she can't think about how he saved her life or any of the other nice things he has done for her.  She may eventually have to kill him.

IRA: The Hunger Games

This is a really good book so far, it is about a society that rose from the ashes of America, it doesn't say how America fell but it did.  The main character Katniss lives in District 12 out of 12.  She lives on the extremely poor side of town and has to hunt (hunting is forbidden) to keep her family alive.  Every year the Capitol forces them to enter a contest which is battle to the death.  No one likes it but they have to.  Your name is entered based on your age and how many times you have accepted the tesserae (meaning food rations for the year).  This year katniss's sister was chosen even though the odds were against her getting chosen, but Katniss says that she will take the place of her in the games, even though it is suicide.  She says good by to her family and is currently on the train toward the capitol for the games.
Two things I want to talk about to describe it, 1) Katniss volenteered to go which is a first for this district, she is very brave and is probably one of the best qualified for the games because she is used to killing animals and hunting.  2) The tesserae is a cruel joke put forth by the Capitol, it forces the porrest to put their names in since they can't afford food.  It is a way for them to try to keep the rich alive and destroy the poor that no one really cares about.  Katniss's friend Gale is 18 and was eligible for the last time this year and had his name in the bowl a total of like 48 times because he had to accept rations for his entire family of five.  Katniss had her's in 26 time's because she accepted rations for her family of three, and Prim only had her's in once and she still managed to get chosen.
